LOS ANGELES — Former UCLA basketball coach and Hall of Famer John Wooden was reportedly hospitalized in Los Angeles on Thursday night.
Los Angeles television station KCAL and the Los Angeles Times reported that the 99-year-old Wooden was in “grave” condition at UCLA Medical Center.
The Times cited an anonymous school source who said Wooden’s health has been an issue in recent weeks and that he was briefly hospitalized about a month ago.
UCLA spokesman Marc Dellins told The Associated Press that he spoke to a Wooden family member Thursday evening and that the family asked that no other information about Wooden be released.
UCLA Medical Center spokeswoman Roxanne Moster said she couldn’t confirm whether Wooden was there or not because it would be a “violation of medical privacy laws.”
Family members couldn’t be reached for comment Thursday by the AP.
Wooden led the Bruins to 10 NCAA championships – at one time winning seven in a row – during a 27-year run that ended with his team cutting down the nets one last time in 1975.
The Bruins won 88 consecutive games from 1971-74 and 38 consecutive NCAA tournament games from 1964-74, both records.
NBA commissioner David Stern was asked about Wooden’s contributions to the sport of basketball before Game 1 of the NBA finals between the Los Angeles Lakers and Boston Celtics on Thursday night.
“We decided that we would not declare his obituary now, other than to say that he’s the winningest coach in our history, four 30-0 seasons, and the ultimate aficionado of our game,” Stern said. “We hope he’s in peace right now, and we’ll wait on events.”
Former UCLA great Bill Walton was at the finals and said he visited Wooden on Tuesday, but that he would “let his family do the talking.”

Slipknot bassist Paul Gray was found dead in an Iowa hotel room. Known as “The Pig” in his first years in music, the LA-native Slipknot player has passed at 38.
Gray, known also as #2 in his self-titled days, had piddled in a life of drugs and alcohol prior to his band Slipknot winning a Grammy award. While Paul had a darker side, he also realized his Slipknot songs would help his fans get through hard times.
“It makes you kind of speechless, man. Some kid who’s so depressed or things are going so bad for them that they actually want to take their own lives, and then they listen to a Slipknot lyric or a song,” he told MTV news in a recent interview. “And that actually gets them through that? I mean, what can you say?”
Gray is survived by his wife Brenna and his only child. While no cause of death has been determined for the Slipknot bassist, an investigation is currently under way.
“I’m just happy that we’re able to do something,” he said in a past media interview about his Slipknot days. “And actually touch somebody like that, where they do feel empowered to keep pushing on and keep going through what they’re going through, and surviving. It’s an overwhelming feeling.”

I can’t recall a time when she ever went this short and although I’m not a fan of it, it’s her hair. I guess she Janet needed a change.
Who are we to dictate what Jackson does with her head? It’s the same kind of drama Robert Pattinson received when he cut his hair.
A fan will remain a fan regardless of what their favorite stars do to their bodies… unless it’s something so drastically out of character like…. oh I don’t know, maybe carrying on affairs with over a dozen women… you know, something THAT drastically different would cause me to stop supporting a celeb I really liked but that doesn’t happen everyday, just every other day.

Poison frontman Bret Michaels was re-hospitalized Thursday with a hole in his heart just days after being released from intensive care with a brain hemorrhage, TMZ reported.
Michaels, 47, was apparently suffering numbness on the left side of his body and went to get checked out. After a series of tests, doctors concluded that Michaels had suffered a Transient Ischemic Attack, or a warning stroke.
During testing, doctors also found a Patent Forum Ovale, commonly known as a hole in the heart.
Michaels is undergoing care at St. Joseph’s Hospital’s Barrow Neurological Institute in Phoenix, Arizona.
Michaels’ physician, Joseph Zabramski, said the diagnosis was”devastating news to Bret and his family.” Still, he said his condition is “operable and treatable.”
It comes one day after he appeared on the “Oprah Winfrey Show” looking healthy and on his way to recovery.
Michaels has been fighting illness since he was admitted to hospital with a brain hemorrhage on April 21.
In an interview with Rolling Stone magazine he admitted he was channel surfing between “Busty Cops 3″ and sports when he was hit with the life-threatening hemorrhage and spent two weeks in an Arizona hospital.
“I was going back and forth from SportsCenter to Busty Cops 3,” Michaels, 47, said.
Michaels’ rep Janna Elias said on his website, “Even though these last few months have been tough on him and his family, especially this most recent setback, he is in good spirits, great medical hands and is positive and hopeful that everything is going to be OK. He is up, walking, talking, continuing his daily rehab and very happy to be alive.”
He was to appear on the May 23 season finale of NBC’s “Celebrity Apprentice,” where he’s competing for the title and a US$250,000 prize for his charity, the American Diabetes Association. He was diagnosed with Type 1 diabetes as a child.
He was also expected to return to the stage with a show on May 28 at the Hard Rock in Biloxi, Miss., followed by a tour with Lynyrd Skynyrd kicking off June 10 in West Palm Beach, Florida.

Grey`s Anatomy Season 6 has some great episodes that you don’t want to loose. And why was only one: the progress of this sixth season was lacking. A few episodes here, however, started to watch a little more willingly, and at the time he began to see the series (in bed recovering from my surgery, intensive one episode after another). GREY’S And so once again occupy a space in my heart, especially with this How Insensitive (season 6, episode 21). A brief scene drew tears from me – and no, I really do not cry for anything on TV. Called the face of cowardly and selfish and gasp! It has been difficult to get off the juice. Strong emotions. Grey`s Anatomy Season 6 does not stop to surprise you with every episode.

The case was secondary: the woman arrived with a seemingly simple problem and went straight for a heart surgery. Yang, Pee life, he had to baby-sit for a girl of nine years (when all that the surgeon really wanted to attend the event).
And then, friends, throat began to tighten when she gave up surgery to operate the girl’s mother, who by then was desperate with fear. The same respect was the brief scene in which Yang, all tough, was sensible and spoke with grazing an incredible way. I guess I never saw anyone explain death in a manner so gentle and yet true. Let`s hope that Grey`s Anatomy Season 6 is not the finish of the series.

Jenn Lyon, Jennifer Lyon, who placed fourth on Survivor Palau in 2005, passed away of breast cancer at the age of 37 in 19 January 2010. Jenn Lyon was an ally of “Survivor Heroes vs. Villains” contestant Tom West man during the Palau season. When the final four votes were split between Jenn Lyon and Ian, they went to a fire building challenge and Ian pulled out the win, leaving Jenn Lyon with a 4th place finish. Jenn Lyon website shows that she has been advocating for breast cancer research since her diagnosis 5 years ago.
In 2005 she was diagnosed with stage three breast cancers, and subsequently began blogging about her disease and treatment.
“Lyon was involved with the Me and my Two Friends Foundation, which focuses on the early detection and prevention of breast cancer through education and awareness. it was founded by Alisa Unger, who designed jewelry and planned to donate a portion of the proceeds to fund breast cancer education projects”.
In 2007 Austin Carty, a “Survivor Panama” contestant who dated Jenn Lyon, told US back in January when she passed away that Jenn Lyon “was a genuinely selfless, sweet natured person. She always had a smile. She cared about every person. this has really rocked the ‘Survivor’ community.”

Miley Cyrus has tried to warn people: she can’t be tamed!
According to a new report, this was never truer than at a wrap party last year for The Last Song. Radar Online states the actress gave producer Adam Shankman a lap dance at the event - and a tape of the performance is currently on the market!
“The video was taken about seven months ago,” a source says. “The worst part is that there were little kids at the party and the dancing between Miley and Adam was so dirty that some of the parents actually left the party and took their kids home.”
“[She's] heading down the same path as Lindsay Lohan and Britney Spears,” an insider said, insulting Miley in pretty much the worst way possible.

Not Billy Ray Cyrus, we presume. He probably loved his daughter’s dirty work.
Those that have witnessed the video have relayed its contents:
- Shankman is allegedly on the dance floor with a drink in hand, grinding against Miley’s rear end.
- She reciprocates the move.
- Soon, Cyrus turns around to face the producer and unbuttons the top layer of her shirt, teasing Shankman and those around her.
- In a separate scene, Miley is giving Shankman a lap dance while children under the age of 10 sit just a few feet away.
When photos of this moving and shaking appeared on Twitter in late 2009, Shankman (who is gay) defended Cyrus and wrote:
“Miley is a sweet angel who works tirelessly and endlessly, and is allowed to have fun in the make up room! Lighten up or no more behind the scenes pics! She’s my little angel sister.”
Others, however, fear that Cyrus won’t be very angelic for much longer.

Christians in Ghana are expected to wear black cloths or mourning dresses as they attend special church services to commemorate the day.
Good Friday comes barely a week after Palm Sunday, which marked the triumphal entry of Jesus Christ to Jerusalem.
Many Christians meditated, fasted, prayed and asked for forgiveness during the Lent period, focussing on the suffering of Jesus Christ on the cross and its significance.
Some Pentecostal churches are also holding conventions that would end on Easter Monday.
Easter Sunday is a cornerstone of Christianity, which marks the triumph of Jesus Christ over death.
Christians in Ghana would be adorned in white dresses as they attend special church services to commemorate the day.
The activities of the day would climax the Easter celebrations, coming after Good Friday and Palm Sunday.
The Easter would be characterised by a series of liturgy, sermons and hymns from Good Friday through Holy Saturday to Easter Sunday to celebrate Christ’s power over death and victory over sin.
Saint Paul, in his first letter to the Corinthians, dwells on the significance of this event to the Christian faith when he told them: “If Christ is not raised, then our preaching is in vain and so is your faith.”
The risen Christ, he said, was the pivot of the Christian faith and that, without this mystery, there would be no church, hope of eternal life or living Christ.
Christ himself affirmed this when he said in John 14: “I am the resurrection and the life; He who believes in me, though he may die, he
shall live….”
Indeed, the early Christians believed that the Risen Christ heralded the dawn of the “New Creation - the church and a new hope.”
